Real Men Read

Houston Real Men Read

HRMR logo
Houston Real Men Read is a mentoring program in which gentlemen business and community members from across the greater Houston area volunteer one hour of their time once a month to read to students in second, fifth and seventh grade in HISD schools.  The program reinforces three fundamental principles: reading is fun, the community cares and a commitment to education can ensure success.  Please contact Mrs. Pafford if you are interested in participating for the 2014-2015 school year at epafford@houstonisd.org.

Use our Shelfari to find books for your home library or to check out at a Houston Public Library near you. Books that may be above your child's reading level may be just right for a parent read aloud. Older students love chapter books, and there are some picture books that have amazing story lines and vocabulary to increase your child's comprehension skills. The most important thing is that we read, read, read!
